In life, there are always some cats that are not very docile, either because they are in heat or because your behavior threatens them. Understanding the causes of different aggressive behaviors in cats and learning and recognizing warning signs may help you cope with the unexpected event of being attacked by a cat and avoid unnecessary injuries.

  1. Sometimes, their attacks seem to be unsuspected, but there are usually plenty of warning messages before the attack. Knowing these signals and learning to recognize them can prevent some of the pain associated with being bitten and scratched.

  2. Some of the main physical signs of aggression (or potential aggression) in cats are as follows.

  3. Eyes open wide.

  4. Pupils dilated (if feeling threatened) or pupils extremely narrowed (when the cat tries to fight back).

  5. Ears flattened.

  6. Tail straight or whipped, tail hair erect.

  7. Change from uneasy meowing to growling or barking.

  8. Hissing sound, sometimes even spitting sound.
